The Story Behind Disc Golf Mentor.

Disc Golf Mentor started because most disc golf advice felt either overcomplicated or uselessly vague. I wanted a place that felt like real coaching — clear explanations, specific fixes, and advice you can actually use the next time you’re on the course.

I’m not a touring pro, just a coach who’s spent a lot of time learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to explain it simply. This site is about helping you improve without the noise, hype, or guesswork.

The Most Common

Form Mistakes I See
(And How to Fix Them)

If your throws feel inconsistent or your distance has stalled, it’s probably not because you need stronger arms or faster discs. It’s usually a few small form issues that stack up over time. In this guide, I break down the mistakes I see most often — and the simple adjustments that actually move the needle.

Meet Your Coach

I’m Jake — the person behind Disc Golf Mentor. I coach disc golf full-time after spending years teaching high school PE, which means I’m used to breaking down movement in a way that actually makes sense.

I’m a 930s-rated player based in Oregon, not a touring pro. I’ve dealt with injuries, plateaus, and bad tournaments, and I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out what actually helps players improve without overcomplicating things.

If you’re trying to clean up your form, build a better practice routine, or finally understand why your throws do what they do, that’s where I can help.
